From Paul Timmins, webmaster - This page is a bit dated, but
cool. Enjoy.
What's inside my Palm Organizer?
I have used Palm organizers for almost a year. As most palm
enthusiasts have wondered at one time or another, I was curious what
was really inside. Now, obviously when it worked, there was no
way I had the "overly large male genitalia" :-) necessary to do such
an adventure on a WORKING Palm Pilot Professional. One day, the
event that all Palm organizer users fear and dread happened to me. I
was minding my own business, riding my bike at excessive speeds
through a parking lot on my way to work at the local grocery store,
and decided to take a 100 degree turn at probably around 15-20 miles
an hour. This for me is fairly routine, I do it all the time. This
time was different. I was on sealed blacktop and hit a patch of oil
(I think) during the process of making the turn. My bike lost its
footing and began sliding sideways, me still on the seat.
Miraculously I was unscratched, despite a messy looking fall and a
nasty rip in my pants. I proceeded to work, smiling knowing I had
not been hurt. Later on I was mentioning the accident to a coworker,
and jokingly said "My PalmPilot probably is pretty screwed".
To my surprise, IT WAS. I was shocked. Now for
some of the pictures, then the rest of the story. Warning: These pictures are particularly graphic and
intrusive. They are not recommended for the weak-stomached Palm
Pilot user. :-)

The interesting part is, it still worked!
When I got it home, I placed it in my HotSync cradle held my
breath, and pressed the button. "Beep-Beep-Beep!" the Palm
Pilot responded with its familiar "Hotsync Connection" sound! I then
waited for 7pm, my next alarm. "Beep!" off it goes! I
then just for kicks turned the backlight on, and it came on. These
things are durable. A 185 pound weight falling full force while
sliding at about 10 or so miles per hour failed to stop it, just
kinda hindered its useability a bit. :-)

The buttons. No real surprises except for the capacitor
which was broken loose by the force of the blow. (Yellow thing
