Litigation

Any time I think litigation in OUR country is fucked, I end up seeing a story like this.

They might have been congratulated for their "green" efforts in an area of heavy air pollution.

Instead a group of French cleaning ladies who organised a car-sharing scheme to get to work are being taken to court by a coach company which accuses them of "an act of unfair and parasitical competition".

The women, who live in Moselle and work five days a week at EU offices in Luxembourg, are being taken to court by Transports Schiocchet Excursions, which runs a service along the route. It wants the women to be fined and their cars confiscated.

  1. wow, that lawsuit makes absolutely no legal sense.
unless there is some part of context for the case that is not being included. but I can't even imagine anything that would make it make sense.

    1. Not really. I think the bus line has an exclusive contract to provide bussing, but nothing that I'm aware of that should cover a carpool.

      1. That was me forgetting to login earlier. I'm totally speechless… I can quote though, and I shall:

"There has grown up in the minds of certain groups in this country the notion that because a man or a corporation has made a profit out of the public for a number of years, the government and the courts are charged with the duty of guaranteeing such profit in the future, even in the face of changing circumstances and contrary public interest. This strange doctrine is not supported by statute nor common law. Neither individuals nor corporations have any right to come into court and ask that the clock of history be stopped, or turned back, for their private benefit." — RAH
