I can imagine paul standing out there while they dig with a cattle-prod in hand shouting "If you touch my existing cable, I will shock you." lol

The existing cable does not belong to us. Our existing cable enters on the other side of the building (this is the final leg of a diverse fiber entrance). The other fiber belongs to a competitor of ours. (and theirs is diverse too)

I did do something similar to this when they were resurfacing part of the parking lot right over our existing single entrance fiber, though.
