Weekend summary

Damn, I'm sunburned.

Anyway, the correct answer to my "brakes" quiz turned out to be "add more fluid and ignore it". I checked and my brake fluid was running low. See, my drivers side front caliper has a verrrry small leak in the cylender from when my brakes failed entirely about a year and a half ago. The rubber gasket around the cylender took some damage when the cylender extended too far as a result of my brake pad falling off the metal holder, and while I got it to maintain a seal again, it's never been the same. It's been a year and a half since the last time I screwed with it, and leaking that tiny bit over the course of 1.5 years isn't bad, all things considered.

Currently there's a dead tie for first direct-connect between and "a random number". I even encouraged people to cheat, and noone did. What the heck? Anyway, in case you were too busy friday to cheat, cheat today. Poll #41987-

I got a few sealed lead-acid batteries, and a hook up for some more of them. If you have a use for them, they're 13 amp hour alarm batteries. Hit me up and I'll see if I can get a few more if you're gonna actually use them. :-> The cost is free, but it would be my recommendation that you actually use them, because disposal is technically illegal.

My ISDN ISP is being a pain in the nuts today. I ended up temporarily connecting to my old ISP until I can brow-beat my current ISP into fixing their crap.

My shower still wasn't fixed when I got home. I made a point of leaving one of the most vitrolic flames I have ever made on the answering machine of the complex. I truly pity the person who has to listen to the message, which contains several instances of "fucking pissed" and "bullshit", as in "I've gone without a working shower for 2 weeks now, I've made 3 support calls, only one recieved a response, and the person who came fucked it up more than it was before. That's bullshit. I'm fucking pissed, and I want a working shower. That's not too much to ask. Come and fix it tomorrow. Make sure the repairman actually checks to see if his repair worked, because he didn't last time."

Anyway, enough of my long ass post. I had an awesome weekend at field day.

werd

I got my nextel. Now I gotta wait for service activation, which I am told takes longer than normal because I had to pay a deposit. I am told it should be ready monday, because the accounting department doesn't work weekends. :-/
I've got DC numbers for denis, dan kivel, dan taylor, and sneak in my phone book. The poll is still ongoing, and I don't care if people get people to go there just to stuff the ballotbox for who gets the first directconnect of me going "w0000000t!"

Thanks for the offer of the data-cable sneak. I may take you up on it monday, I dunno.

Peace out, I'm going to field day.

w00! Victory is mine

Today, I did the following:
* Created a system that allows me to reinstall the OS on our servers from source media over the network with ONE COMMAND. w00t!!!!!!!!!!

* Installed 27 machines with it

* Ran the command to install them a few more times just for the hell of it

* Yelled w00t! numerous times in the datacenter

* Drank Mountain Dew right in front of the "You are entering a colocation center, No food or Drinks" sign

* Yelled w00t! some more

And my day's not yet complete. I should run these commands a few more times for the hell of it. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Religion?

Some people wonder where my stance is on religion.
I think of it this way:
I'm supposed to be Catholic. After some thought, I could never be part of a religion that condones the abuse of children in any form. I don't care what they say, they were condoning it because they are undergoing a shortage of priests, and didn't want to discharge the ones they currently have. I can see their position, it's just unconsiciable (sp?).
I believe in Jesus, like Christians, and I believe in having a close, personal relationship with God – which many christians seem to decry, mentioning that all salvation goes through Jesus. Jesus may have saved me, but God created me. I pay my respects to both, thank you.
I believe that most, if not all, forms of organized religion are hypocritical, and many engage in sacreligious behaviors, some even cause their followers to leave, and depart from the faith, because they teach from the very beginning (contrary to the bible, IMHO) that you can't have Faith without Religion. I think that's the biggest crock of crap that any church has said. It's so obviously self serving. Faith in God is different than participating in religious exercise. Some places even teach that as long as you go to church, you're going to heaven, and if you don't, you're going to hell. It doesn't matter how you live your life to them, as long as you tithe weekly. Screw that. That's nonsense. Even the Bible states that those who don't believe in God (that's right, you don't even have to believe in God) will be given the chance to decide if they believe in God, and go to heaven, or they will go wherever else. I personally don't believe in Hell. I don't know where bad people go, but they'll find something undesirable in the afterlife, that's all I know about that.

Nothing bothers me more than fundamentalists of any religion. Baptists in particular I find quite insulting to me, personally, proclaiming I will burn in hell if I'm not going to their church. Don't worry, God has a special way of dealing with those who mislead the flock. (This I bring up because a local baptist minister was going door to door yesterday, and I finally had to tell him to get the hell off my doorstep because he just wouldn't leave. I was busy, and the last thing I wanted to do after a 14 hour day was debate religion with a baptist minister).

Either way, I believe that anyone who does good deeds, and lives their life to help others, will be rewarded in the afterlife. Those who choose to life a life of sin, have the chance to ask for God's forgiveness, and join us up there, and those who choose to deny the obvious will be sent somewhere undesirable.

But enough about me. Does anyone else have beliefs in religion that diverge from those of an organized one? I'm not talking about "alternative religions" like paeganism, or anything like that, but where your beliefs diverge significantly from any organized religion of any sort, including athiesm.
